my MULTI/MIXED MEDIA discipline

Milton Glaser. “There are three responses to a piece of design – yes, no, and WOW!”

When first asked what was my creative field and what was I interested in pursuing as a career, a million questions came to mind. I’d always had dreams of making my name big like artists such as Vivienne Westwood, Hannah Hoch, Frida Kahlo and Cindy Sherman. It is artists like these that truly inspire my creative endeavours. As an artist, I daily experiment with multi/mixed media, such as photography, video, painting, collage making, sketching and sculpture design. However, when reflecting on past completed creative projects of my own, most take the form of videos. (check out the one below).

As an artist, I wish to push more into finally producing multi/mixed media art that holds with it strong meanings and intentions that will question the audience and provoke thinking, whilst also being visually appealing. For me, I am drawn towards the field of DESIGN as I enjoy making things look aesthetically pleasing.

Below is a series of photos by some of my favourite artists that helps depict the type of design I like to experiment with.

As an artist, I wish to deepen my understanding of my chosen field of practice. I wish to do so by doing more contextual research of artists that relate to my discipline, and to not just focus on what I find aesthetically beautiful, but also art that has a beautiful meaning and intention, no matter what it looks like. — Artists from the Renaissance to Pop Art

I also endeavour to experiment and create more designs of my own, based on topics I believe should be addressed to the everyday folk. I wish to explore themes/values and finally create my own unique aesthetic as an artist.
